Cam ShillingtonCam Shillington was the Cam has always had an interest in the arts, so as a teenager he took a part time weekend job working at the local TV station in Kingston. This interest later evolved into a 27 year broadcast career working for CKWSAM RADIO, CFMKFM COUNTRY RADIO, AND CKWS TELEVISION. During that time, his leadership saw CFMK COUNTRY RADIO be voted Top Country Station in Canada for market size. Cam was fortunate to grow up in a Christian home which instilled the ministry call by example. Cam's father, Floyd Shillington, planted three separate churches during his ministry. The music of the church has always been close to Cam's heart, but like his father had a vision for something more. It was in the fall of 1968, that Cam along with 4 others, formed the first Master's group. Through the years this group has continued to offer up the purity of the gospel in music with a southern style yet not forgetting the traditional roots from which is was birthed. While working at the TV station, and with the co-operation of a CKWSTV producer, Cam produced an award winning weekly television show called "Gospel Singin Time", which was syndicated nationwide on Global TV, and The Master's where the host Group. Cam is excited once again to see this ministry which he started years ago, be released once more to be used in whatever way God sees fit. Cam and wife Gail, who reside in Kingston, are proud parents of three children and two grandchildren.
The Masters"The Masters from Kingston were one of the favourites on the southern gospel music circuit in Ontario, and were managed by Cam Shillington. They were also featured artists on “Opry North”, a radio show on CFGM based out of Toronto. Cam was the host and producer of “Gospel Singin’ Time”, a nationally syndicated television show programming SG which won several Canadian awards for excellence in programming. The Master’s hosted and promoted many concerts and were instrumental in the growth of Southern Gospel in the 70’s and 80’s. They are currently reforming and hope to be singing again soon.
I asked Keith Deyo how Days Of Grace was formed. “In 2009 we tried to resurrect the long time group, The Masters. All three singers, along with Cam Shillington, sang and traveled as the Masters for another three years.” Deyo continued, “Then Cam had to step down because of health. In March of 2013, Ken Deyo, Dona Locklin and myself (Keith Deyo), formed “Days Of Grace.” Source: Phil Foster. November 5, 2013. http://www.sgmradio.com/2013/11/05/days-of-grace/ |
