CRTC Decision Explanation:
The Commission approves the application by 1486781 Ontario Limited to amend the broadcasting licence for the radio programming undertaking CFWC-FM Brantford in order to change the frequency from 99.5 MHz (channel 258LP) to 93.9 MHz (channel 230A1) and to change the authorized contours by increasing the effective radiated power from 50 watts to 250 watts.
In Country FM radio station in Kitchener-Waterloo, Broadcasting Decision CRTC 2003-153, 14 May 2003, the Commission awarded 99.5 MHz to Larche Communications Inc., on behalf of a corporation to be incorporated, with an expectation that it would absorb the costs of moving the low-power, unprotected station CFWC-FM to another frequency.
As a result of the technical amendments approved in the present decision, CFWC-FM's status will change from that of a low-power unprotected service to a protected class A1 FM station. The licensee also indicated that the technical amendments will enable it to provide a better quality signal to listeners in the Brantford area.

History of Radio Station CFWC 93.9 FM
CFWC has been on the air since 2002.
2004
On May 20, CFWC was given approval to change frequency from 99.5 to 93.9 MHz and to increase the effective radiated power from 50 to 250 watts. Antenna height remained 23.9 metres EHAAT.
2002
CFWC "Freshwind 99.5 FM" began broadcasting. Studios and offices were located at 271 Greenwich Street in Brantford. The 23.9 metre (EHAAT) antenna was located on a church steeple.
2001
On October 11,2002, the CRTC granted a licence for a new FM station at Brantford, operating on 99.5 MHz with an effective radiated power of 50 watts. The station would be a 24 hour per day commercial undertaking targeted to the Christian community in Brantford.
